Hope Fire Company responds to nearly 400 calls for service each year in a service area that encompasses parts of Centre and Clearfield Counties. We have approximately 25 active firefighters that respond to calls ranging from roadway hazards and medical assist calls to building fires and vehicle accidents. The fire company is one of two companies located in Philipsburg Borough which provides fire protection and rescue operations to not only the Borough, but parts of Rush, Decatur and Boggs Townships. Our fleet currently consists of a 2006 Seagrave Engine/Rescue, a 1996 Spartan Heavy Rescue, a 1986 AMC Brush Tanker and a 2012 Chevy Silverado Utility vehicle.

Hope Fire Company has the benefits of a small town department, but with a progressive attitude and a significant call volume that allows everyone to gain hands on experience quickly. We push our members to put their best foot forward and not hold anything back. There is a place for nearly everyone within the fire department. While responding to emergency calls is our priority, there is always something that someone has to offer if they are unable or not interested in becoming an active firefighter. Joining Hope Fire Company no only makes you a member of our department, it makes you a member of our family.

Hope Fire Company is currently looking to recruit members to assist with all aspects of the company. First and foremost, active firefighters are sought to respond to emergency incidents. In addition, Associate Members are also being sought to assist with fundraising, community activities, as well as assisting with the business side of the fire company (accounting, legal representation, investments, etc.).

Members of Hope Fire Company not only have the satisfaction of being able to help those in need by responding to emergency calls, but they can take part in many other community based projects the fire company participates in each year. Annually, the fire company goes above and beyond the requirements set by the municipalities to provide fire protection to the community. One such example is done by providing dozens of fire prevention presentations to hundreds of children and adults alike every year. In addition, the fire company also supports other non-profit organizations by taking part in their fundraising events. The YMCA’s Polar Plunge, Toy’s for Tots Christmas present delivery and Breakfast with Santa to benefit the Philipsburg Food Bank are just a few examples from the past year. Our members also partake in teambuilding exercises such as Mud Run races and host different events at our Rec. Center, inviting the community to partake in all sorts of activities. By joining Hope Fire Company, you not only become a member of the fire company, but you become part of our family too. With a wide variety of training opportunities made available at not cost to our members, we push our personnel to be the best of the best. Historically, most of our members are local residents, however with our bunk-in and live-in options, we are reaching out to those living outside the Philipsburg area to allow anyone interested to be a part of our organization.
